🦋 Friends...

Sometimes I forget how important they are in my life, because you know… stupid Covid kept us all away from each other for so long. And time apart can either make a heart grow fonder or or cause us to forget how much we need one another.

This weekend I had such a great time with one of my favorite friends going to a new church and then was blessed again in havinga heart-to-heart conversation with another one of my favorite friends.

I am so thankful for these women in my life who I get to call “friends” and I appreciate the “iron sharpening” we get to experience together ❤️

I realize we all may think of medieval or Roman armor when we think of The Armor of God, but a couple weeks ago it hit me that the way I dress protects me from the weather and elements... it was at that moment that I thought of MY armor like this:
• hat = helmet
• tshirt + flannel = breastplate
• belt = belt
• boots = peace
• cast iron pan = shield
• Bible = sword

🦋 Anyone else struggling with fear?
Please tell me I’m not alone here...

Ya know,, the funny thing is that it’s not even the whole pandemic thing. It’s actually over money, which I canNOT believe I’m saying.

For the past 13 months my husband has been unemployed from a full-time job and God has literally provided every single one of our needs in ways that don’t make sense in human logic. And I have been hit with a 1-2 punch this last two months with a bunch of different life situations that I thought were really no big deal. Now as I sit here to share this post with you I have a difficult time catching my breath...
Most of you know that we’re supposed to breathe from our belly, not our chest, well, I can hardly take a breath from my chest, let alone my belly.

The stress and tension in my body are ridiculous and I think it’s stupid because I know that my Father‘s in control everything, yet why is this happening? Is it my faith supposed to be greater than my fear? Isn’t it my faith supposed to be as minuscule as a mustard seed and yet that can move mountains? So what gives?

Yeah, I know 2020 was really hard for so many people, but even in the midst of all of our trials and tribulations, I am pretty sure we could look back and see his hand of grace and mercy on our lives.

Humility is hard, pride is easy.
Fully understanding that we simply are NOT better than someone else hits our ego smack in the face! We don't like it and it doesn't feel good. Yet the tendency to exalt oneself above another comes (way too) naturally. And it's going to. We live in what is called a "fallen world" aka we're all a hot-mess defaulting to doing the wrong thing (sin). Yet as "natural" as this is, that doesn't mean we can't choose to be different, do things differently. We will always be unique from one another (and of course this includes skin color, religious beliefs, talents and abilities, and wealth). It's impossible for everyone to be good at everything in every category, yet it's COMPLETELY POSSIBLE to be kind and respect every single person regardless of these differing qualities.

Can I get an amen?

Self-focus comes naturally, doesn’t it? It sure does for me.
But, I’ve come to notice that the more time I spend focusing on me, the less time I focus on others who ‘need’ me. Take children, for example, they ‘need’ a LOT of attention, right? Like (almost) all day attention! But this is a good thing because it helps them grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Let’s look at our friendships; if we don’t give our attention to them they’ll wither and die and then we end up sad and feeling lonely. And how about our husband/wife? When we don’t devote intentional time and care to them they feel unloved and sadly, over time, this can lead to divorce.

We are designed & created for community, interaction, relationship; not self-focused internal-isolation.

I’ve come to learn that many of us are having a hard time during this new way of life since COVID-19 showed up. Quite honestly, it’s really easy to feel despair and discouraged with all of these new changes. This quote, “Look Up When You’re Feeling Down” is effective only if we choose to apply it. When we raise our eyes towards heaven and we fix our focus on Jesus, instead of the chaotic world surrounding us, we really do receive a peace that we can’t understand.
